After Market Backup Camera

I don't necessarily have a brand recommendation, but if you don't mind running a little extra wire, I would recommend you NOT go with a wireless backup camera. I have one that I use when towing my camper (camera is mounted on the back of the camper, the wireless transmitter is mounted at the front of the camper, and the wireless receiver/display hangs over my rearview mirror) and the reception is spotty. I've tried even moving the receiver closer to the transmitter, well within the line of sight range listed, and it still drops out fairly often. The drop outs are not enough to keep the device from being useful, but a hard wired unit would certainly be better if the application can support it. Not to mention the hardwired versions tend to be a bit less expensive.

Back up cameras make backing into a parking spot much easier, but more importantly, they help prevent accidents, so its definitely needed accessory. For your vehicle a lot of aftermarket brands are available. The most reputable are iTronics, Boyo, Edge. You can check them online: 2009 Ford Explorer Back Up Cameras & Sensors at CARiD.com
