It would make 40psi even with a hole in the piston?
I am not sure Chris. I have never checked compression after burning a hole in a piston. I just tore it down. Likely if that is what you did there would be aluminum residue on the spark plug. Could maybe be stuck rings or a broken piston skirt too I suppose.

My buddy seems to think it's going to be stuck rings. I think I'll pull the head off after work. Will I see anything obvious for the stuck rings or should I pull the jug too?
