I have a 5 spd 92 4 wd vehicle, if by chance I plugged the connector backwards, would this cause this condition to exist ? If not, I will have to dig much further to find the problem ....
Maybe I was not clear, I had the trans and transfer case out twice, and assume a connector under there sends a signal as to when the trans is in reverse. If this is not the case, feel free to correct me .... Seems to me when I took the lens out, was not getting any power back to connector in other words not a bulb issue for reverse ....
Look at the diagram I posted. The connector on the reverse light switch is C166. The circuit is very basic and regardless if you managed to put the connector on backwards or not it does not matter, power is applied to the bulb when the switch is closed (trans. in reverse).
Get a meter, verify 12 volts is present when the key is in the Run position. If that is good check the continuity of the switch.
