Looking at the wiring diagram it appears the 8 gauge wire runs from the solenoid to the breaker from the breaker to the alt gauge and them back to the junction post with the yellow/black alt wires. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance! John

I don't like the way that the OEM circuit breaker will mount to the inner fender so I've been looking for other options. I'm considering this setup. Any opinions are appreciated.

CB185 Series Manuel Reset Circuit Breakers 12 volt to 48 volt.

just what I needed! At this point I plant to just install the breaker using the brackets you see in the photo, unless someone provides a different mounting option. I'll also cover the screw connections on the rear of the breaker with some electrical tape since they will be close to the inner fender

I'm curious why you want to continue to mount this circuit breaker when Number Dummy's post says it doesn't apply to your truck?

It might be a good safety item to add, ask someone who fried the wiring going to the gauge and the gauge when the junction block broke and the leads shorted against the inner fender.

Or shorted against the dash.
Not fun.

as stated by others, I prefer the small up-front investment of a circuit breaker to protect the larger investment -- the truck....

Circuit breaker

I used the same one your link pointed to and it worked out fine. I also would rather have the security of the circuit breaker than no overcurrent protection. (Speaking as an electrician, which is my day job)
