Anyone ever done this with the front end? I know I can swap a D60, but would rather put the money into rust repair or restoring the interior. I'm wanting about 4" of lift, but don't know where I can find the brackets to lower the front axle. I was going to fab up some for the rear, and drop it 4" as well. Thanks guys!
It's done all the time. Do you have a f150 or a f250? The f250's came with dana 44HD's.
Either one can be lifted 4 inches. You might as well buy a kit. It will come with the brackets, lift springs, longer shocks, dropped pitman arm, and blocks for the rear. You need all that stuff. If you have a f150 you will also need the dropped radius arm brackets. You can re-position the brake line brackets, or buy longer hoses for the brake lines.
