I need help, I have a 76 f150 im currently working on putting a 14'' suspension lift under it and a coil sprung dana 60 . The ? is with the radius arms being that caster will be set up with the dana 44 wedges at 4 degrese. would it be better to buy the extended radius arms (jeffs bronco graveyard) or make my own drop brackets. im not really concerned with flex but with that much lift i dont want anything binding up? any suggestions thanks.
yea im working on my truck its a 92 soild axle .but i have 15 inchs of lift going on it it at the point u must have longer radius arms and drop brackets. that and u have to make up some brakets for your track bar. the springs i had made are really big. and im sure it wont flex.
What kind of extended radius arms did you use? And how much drop on the dropbracets, my truck is a 76' F150. Thanks and does anything bind up with the radius arms at the drop bracets with that much lift?
right now i have stock radius arms that im going to make longer. but at the moment i have 9 inch on my truck and i used 6 inch drop brackets out of a super lift kit for a 78-79 f150.right now i have no binding. but after i get the new springs in ill have to relocate every thingim still trying to find all the parts i need
well ill tell u this its not to go more places off road.the truck use to be fourwheeled but now its becoming a show truck. that way i can build up another truck to fourwheel
thanks................. and yes mine was 4 wheeled too and now is becoming a show truck. Still getting muddy every once and awhile, till i get another one.
Maybe it is just me, but, I hate using drop brackets on radius arms so I do not. At the worse you get hung up or high centered on them, at the best they do not look right, and they break or rip the frame if they do not have the proper backing. I do like the looks of the James Duff "new" radius arm brackets that have 3 settings in them that go along with the extended radius arms.
does anyone have the web site for that place that had those radius arm extentions? or that pic that was posted a LONG time ago? i think i was like bent and twisted or something.
with those extensions there is not enough metal to make them strong enough from bending. you can see them in this picture.
in the link below you can see the ones I made for my 78. The Dom tube extended them about 10 inches and they have huge 1-1/4 heim joints on the ends. The radius arms were filled in for about 6 inches where the DOM fit over the stock "I" beam part of the radius arm. I welded a huge nut on the end of the stock threads, then welded that to the DOM, then put a second nut in there welded to the inside of the DOM as well as the stock radius arm threads. Then the weld in bung went on the end of the DOM. The DOM it's self is .25 wall and the ID I think was like 2". I also put 1/4" plate on both sides od the arms to further add more strength to them.
