I Love Ya DMAN. It's the Baseball Hall Of Fame, not the MORAL hall of fame.

What Rose did tarnished the integrity of the game. Far more serious (in the game of baseball anyway) than smoking crack. He played mostly before my time so my judgement is not colored by his stats. Keep him out!

I have to say that I favor keeping him out, too. The cardinal rule of the game is that the players shall not bet on the game, and I think Rose did. Only he knows for sure. Admitting that he did so, IF he did, and showing remorse for his actions, if he committed such actions, would be a great thing, but even if he did, in my eyes he has not served his sentence. He was banned for life, and as long as he lives, he should not be allowed to have anything to do with Major League baseball, including being inducted into the Hall.

Pete Rose....

I say "who cares?" I've got better things to do with my life than worry one way or another about Pete Rose and the hall of fame.

Rose knew the rules before hand. He probably didn't understand them, but he knew them.

The powers that be created the Hall and the requirements to be inducted. Players are aware of them. If they want the recognition and induction into the Hall of Fame, let them abide by the rules.

There is a price to paid for everything in life. Pretty simple.

Most of us are agreeing, let him in, it's a tainted prize anyway.

The big disagreement is that we don't all think of the Hall of Fame the same way. If it's just for famous players, he should be in. If it's just for players that we want our children to emulate, real baseball hero, he shouldn't get in. Others should be judged on their own circumstances. If it's based on stats, he should be in there.

What does the Hall of Fame mean to you?

Would you want your kid to emulate Barry Bonds?

He hasn't "broken the rules", and he's a shoe in for the hall, but the guy is a first class jerk IMHO.

The biggest thing here is that the MLB CANNOT PROVE that Rose bet on the games. There's an article on MSNBC this morning, check it out. Johnnie Cochran vs. some prosecutor guy. The simple fact is, in a court of law, MLB has no case against Rose.

So, should the ASSUMPTION of Rose's guilt keep him out of the hall?

Whether he's guilty or not, and for what it's worth, I suspect he's more than a little dirty, the fact is, his stats (not his fame?) are MORE than worthy of the hall. Like was mentioned earlier, it's not the Hall of Morals. IMHO, 8 outta 10 guys in the hall have some questions regarding their "morals".

Let him in. He's done his time.

Let him in, then pardon everyone on death row too - NOT! What's the point in banning him if you just let him in again. What kind of lesson is that to our youth? Well son, go ahead and do anything you want. You might get caught, but they'll let you off if you whine enough. I DON'T THINK SO!

Bubba,

The point is, he's never been caught.

MLB can't prove he gambled on baseball.

Guilty or not, the law USA is based on the assumption that you're innocent until PROVEN guilty.

I'd like to see the issue go to court. If he loses, get lost. If Pete wins, put his name on the ballot. It still doesn't guarantee he'll get into the hall, but he'll get his shot.

As for whining, I think everyone else cares more about it than Pete himself.

He HAD the opportunity to let the events take their proper course, HE DECIDED to take this deal. Not us, HIM.
