I have been hearing alot of talk lately dealing with weather or not to let peter rose back into baseball. I for one think that he should be. The man has done his time. I dont think there is any reason why he should not be in the hall of fame. He is one of the greatest players of all time. All the other great players are in the hall. And if had to "BET" on it i would say that all of these players probably placed a little wager on a game now and then. I think everyone has bet on some sort of game. I am just trowing out my 2 cent worth. What do yall think about the matter?
I agree....I think he's sorry, has done his time and deserves a shot at the hall....besides, who is to say that even if they allow him the ability to be on the ballot that he would be voted in? I think they would be crazy not to, but it could happen. I think the commissioner at that time just wanted to make an example out of him and bust him in a major way....he's been humilated, taken away from his love in life, shunned by baseball in general and that's not enough? Meanwhile we got current superstars breaking records and using corked bats....and they will probably have NO PROBLEM getting in. Let's keep it all in perspective here!
I also think he should be allowed back in baseball. What he did is probably being done everyday today and was less shameful to baseball, by far, than what is going in baseball today.
I followed his story pretty close over the years but if memory serves me correctly, and sometimes it doesn’t, I have never read where he bet against his own team. I think its something personal with the baseball commissioner.
Personally I never liked him, I guess it was the way he choked up on the bat, but I did appreciate his hustle!
Maybee if he beat his wife, smoked crack, used steroids, and was caught driving drunk he would proably already be in the hall of fame. I do think he has a problem gambling, but that in no way affects how he played the game.
Hey why not. The game of baseball and football has been shamed so bad by sorry players doing drugs, rapes, murders and so on, whats a little gambling going to hurt.
Don't ask why NASCAR is blowing other sports off the TV just read the sports pages.
One more vote for Pete, by comparison he seems like a nice guy, maybe his bust could be put by Enrico Alverez or whatever that guy was that kept spitting in the Umps face. Why would you keep Pete out? That would be like keeping liars and cheats out of political office. We need these heros for our children to emulate.

Keep him out! He has not showed one shred of remorse. He still denies doing anything wrong to this day in spite of lots of evidence to the contrary. If he admits his guilt and shows contrition maybe he could be enshrined posthumously. But if he bet against his own teams then he doesn't deserve to be in there ever.
He should be in, My 17 yr old son was asking me why they wouldnt let him in and yet Darrell Strawberry will probably get in. Lets see Pete broke a baseball rule and Darrell broke the law about 5,000 times gee which is worse i wonder. just my $.02
Did I say that, no. I didn't. Its a silly arguement. I always believed he never did anything to justify the MLB's reaction, I think the only reason they did that was because they weren't getting any of the money. Guys like Strawberry can pay off the MLB but Pete refused to I think he has good moral character.
This forum is a great place and I would hate to see it turn into a big arguement. There are plenty of political threads and that the way this one is going.
Pete Rose should definitely be re-instated, and should be put on the Hall of Fame ballot immediately.
He gambled, so what? He didn't smoke crack and visit hookers, or do steroids or drive drunk, like so many other player have done and still do.
This case is an ulcer on the game of baseball, one of many festering sores that are going to kill the game eventually.

I say let him in. If they just let him in we would have never even heard anything about it and this would not be here to discuss. I do think he was a great ball player and I think he diserves it. Who has not made a mistake in their lives?
