Nice flat bed for sure, awesome fab work on the back end. If you have the space between the back side of the taillight holes and the nice high dollar Led TAIL LIGHTS, weld some 1" expanded metal to protect them.....
I like how the winch surround panel can be removed very easy, and nice newer F150 badges.
So its a 1/2 ton and you did a axle swap all the way around or just the outers on the front and a complete swap on the back?
How about a shot of the hood and the off set single hood scoop?
Here is a picture of my flatdeck, it's nothing special by any means. Simple design, no side boxes, aluminum checker plate sides with some marker lights, really easy to build (I built it in my garage in a week for around $650.
I made it mostly to learn how to weld properly and with the purpose of being a hunting/bush truck. I made a winch mount back there..
Since my new project 79 has been attacked by the rust monster in the bed area, I have been looking around for flatbed ideas as well.
this is one I really like, since the projected plans for the truck is more of a rescue vehicle than a work horse, the smaller square footage of the bobbed bed is OK with me.
and a few others I have stolen off here and other interweb locals...

Thanks for the pics/ideas. I like the clean look of the bobbed bed. As far as my current use of the 78...
Cutting wood, hunting/fishing, ATV, bike hauling, and helping out on my buddy's farm is primarily where I'm at.
I really like the winch idea and throwing some aft facing lights. I still need good shocks (if anyone has an idea there) and will put larger wheels and tires on her.
My 79 has a lift and 33's; with my 78, I'm hoping to get a great functional worker out of her. She only has 69k miles and has served me well since I bought her.

Axel swap all the way around. And The hood scoop is cut out right above the intake. I don't have pictures. You'd be amazed at how much of a difference it is.
Ed, like Rich said, come on by the Missouri forum.
Where are you at? I'm outside Springfield in Battlefield. As of late we have been meetingvat Alan's shop in Sparta. Performance Inc. He is working on one of my trucks now, and has worked on my other truck, and a car or two. We have some fun talkin trucks.
Nice job on the deck SCRPMNY, welcomt to Fte, check out the Alberta chapter, fall and winter thread. I'm in S.E Calgary and that plate looks familiar.
Building a deck isn't all that complicated unless a person makes it that way Edmed. When the weather breaks this week I'm back to finishing off the one I built for KatyP, I made it complicated.

Hey thanks
I will stop by the forum. I'm just east of Joplin, always looking for a reason to go to Bass Pro, so let me know next time you guys meet.

Hey Privateer,
I've never touched a welder, but the thought of it has me intrigued! I'd gladly pay a shop rate just to get some basics down...money well spent from keeping from making big mistakes or injuries...I have a fairly small shop space and hate to ask buddies to take up their real estate with my projects...
Would like to see some pics of your work!!

Thanks. Yeah I love outside of calgary but the SE is the closest area for me. Decks are super easy, like you said. Are there any truck meets in calgary for these old rigs?
Edmed; if you check out my thread KatyP loses her box you can check out what I did so far with the scrap metal from old parts vehicles that I have/had. We're weather impaired right now but monday the weather changes to the good and I can finish off a side project. Will be back to working on the deck come wed/thursday. I bought a nearly new Lincoln t140 for $450 and it was a great decision. it came with a spool of .030 flux core which is good for learning with as its cheaper than burning off a bottle of argon. This model welder has a really good guide chart and does the thinking for you. This lets you concentrate on making a puddle with your wire and get used to the side to side motion you need to make with your wire and focus on pentration. It's a 110 rig that needs a 20 amp line. I do a few small jobs for my nieghbours and have gotten at least half of my cost back, simply because they know theres a guy within a block that can weld.
Know what you mean as I used to live on the corner of Paradise rd and the #1 on 9 acres, also lived on 284th SE of Sheppard on 4 acres. Moved to town due to my health. Get onto the Alberta chapter as theres a few of us with dentsides and I know of a few truck collections in my area and need a legit reason to go visiting. I got 3 myself and some parts.
