I've been doing some reading and hope someone can fact check me here.
I'm looking at building a 390 out of 390 and 360 parts.
From what I understand, early 360 pistons were specific pistons, but later on Ford started using 4v 390 pistons with the 3.5 inch stroke to keep the lower compression ratio in the truck engines.
Here's where I'm going with this...
I'm wondering if I take a 390 rods and crank, and mate it with those 360 (4v390) pistons, if I can get a little more squeeze in the combustion chamber.
For year knowledgable folks, the 390 is most likely a '67 and 360 from '75..again probably.
Also the way I understand it, 2v pistons are dished, 4v are flat top with valve reliefs.
