Creating a 390 question

Anyone know what the compression ratio would be if I used a 360 block with a 390 crank and rods and used 360 pistons.
Would this be a liveable combination?

I believe the pistons have basicilly the same pin height with both motors so the compresion ratio should be the same if you were to use 390 pistons. The 360 uses longer rods than the 390 to accomplish this. I maybe wrong in saying this, but I believe anything from the 390 down use the same piston Heigh. Ford used longer rods to compensate for the shorter stroke.

Greg, you can do it, but you shouldn't. The 360 flattop piston on the 390 crank and rods will give you 10 to 1 compression. Too much for the low octane crap that masquerades as pump gasoline these days. If you are building a 390, I would recommend the silvolite 1130 piston, giving you 9 or 9.5 to 1 DF

Your 360 may have come with 390 pistons, my original 360 did from the factory. Like Scotty said, I don't think there is any difference between the two piston, but the 390 slugs were skirted to allow for the additional crank throw.
