The MODBUG

2nd owner of 1999 XLT 7.3 with 103,595

I spent the good part of the day Saturday reading posts here for all the great mods you can do and woke up today with the MODBUG...

Well to scratch that itch I will start here..Keeping it stock no tuners....

These will be my first MODS, What were yours???

Going to change out the air filter box to the FA1759. Has a K&N Filter in it now.

After seeing user Sous front emblem I did a search and came up with and will be going with this one, the guy has 3 different versions of them....

Can't wait for Xmass

I did air flow first. Exhaust, then intake.

Don't forget bigger windshield wipers. I think it's 22" I run on mine. If you tow, air bags. For summer time, the heater valve mod. And of course the maintenance stuff like torquing the injector hold down bolts and adding a shim/50¢ mod/updated valve cover gaskets. Check your GPR and ohm out your glow plugs. Silverstar ultra headlight bulbs. LED reverse lights. Heated seats. And so on.

There's plenty to do without adding a tuner.

I also did a scan tool/ gauges first. No tuner? I would go intake, exhaust, and the hutch/harpoon mod. Then it depends how bad you got bit and how big your wallet is.

I love that emblem. Have seen guys with the international orange diamond but always wanted an IH emblem. Guess it will get added to my list.

Lucky I had the scan tools from my day job....didn't have to buy for this truck..

I'm thinking gauges also with the 650 lower dash(3 gauges 3 switches)then the heater core valve on a 12v vacuum solenoid ...but I need to address some backdoor rocker panel issues before it turns into a cab corner issue..

On the grill badges
The guy has the diamond also but I like the IH here are a few pics from his website .

Take the money for the Fa1759 and buy your bad *** emblem ($160),
then used whats left over for:

$40 -- Napa 6637
http://www.ebay.com/itm/B085011-Donaldson-replacement-for-Napa-6637-/171336684701?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27e476549d&vxp=mtr
$20 -- Prefilter (keeps water out, and looks cool)

$18 -- Case of Beer to install the goodies.

Just my 2 cents.

Looks great, how does the color match on it? I was going to go with the stick shift one

I had a hard time going back and forth between the two. I really liked how clean the manual setup was and in the end it just came down to price I guess.

The color match was a little tricky. My original "stock" lower dash was the same color as what is under the steering wheel "fuse box access panel" and was going to repaint the new 650 dash the same light gray. When it came the 650 dash was the same color as the upper dash portion and decided to just leave and looks part of the whole dash as one unit. So i ended up just having to have to paint the cup holder and ash tray. In the pic above you can see that the color is just a tab bit lighter and probably could have fixed that with a couple of more coats of paint. But the match was perfect as the top portion and lower portion.
Hope that helped with your Q. I'll try and find the paint can that I used but have not seen it in a while.
