Yes, the only reason I want forged is to add boost. What does it take to get a sticky? Best to watch Trozei's thread on pistons. It covers everything about forged slugs you need to know.

OK, that makes sense; Just curious!

Yes, I have a grip on forged and when you need them vs hypereutectic. I'm planning my build now but not intending to do a blown/turbo engine, but am trying to research components like piston choices.

Thanks for the info

The only problem with my V8 pistons is that they have offset pins, meaning I might have to have two backwards pistons. I'm not quite sure yet what I'm going to do there.

I saw your thread over on Fordsix on this. I take it you called Probe? I don't know if they do pistons per order, but it seems they could put together a package of six that were all referenced the right way.

In your case, it's because of the valve relief and how they quench? That's what I got from reading the F6 thread.

Probe sells individuals, I asked, but it was $12 cheaper than buying a set of 8, which was easier to do. At the time, it never occurred to me that I would've been smarter to buy six in the correct offset, but I also had no idea that the pistons were offset as there was no indication of it anywhere. My fault though, I should've asked about it. The valve relief orientation doesn't matter so much as the valves will never hit the piston, assuming nothing breaks. It's mating the flat spot of the piston to the flat spot on the head that matters. While doing this, I must also maintain piston offset on the major thrust side of the engine (passenger side). When I measured the first time, I found that this was doable. When I double checked, I found that it was not. The offset is so minor (approximately 0.050") that I am unable to know for sure. I was going to ask my machinist for his opinion on it. The only downside to a backwards piston is that it makes more noise.
