np435 to c6

thanks for the help guys but need some help again
i have a 1966 ford F100 with a 302 4bbl Holley 650 and a np435 i think 4.10 or 4.11 rear gear truck runs about 50 55 mph
i want to put a automatic transmission in
already have some parts
i have a starter off of a auto 302, a block plate, trans cooler,c6 yoke,164 tooth flexplate
i want to run a c6 thought about a c4 and aod but my dad really wants a c6 in the truck he swears by c6 transmissions

i know we still need
a transmission
dipstick tub
c6 kick down
shifter
and driveshaft work
me and him are both lost as for what else we might need
can anyone else chime in please dont want to tear into this and find out we need a part that is weeks out

thanks

I do not know the specifics but I think you might need to get an adapter for your speedometer.

you might also need a different trans mount and trans bushings.

my question is why are you going to an auto? I am currently planning the opposite, and I want to swap my C6 to a ZF 5 speed in my 65. also with a C6 you aren't going to see any speed increase or mpg benefit. you will still have the same final drive ratio unless you regear the back end to a lower ratio

If the end game is higher speeds at lower rpm, there is a much easier and quicker and cheaper solution. An automatic will not change the final drive which is 1 to 1 on either your manual or automatic without an overdrive. IMO, since you have a 9" Ford axle, just swap out the 3.89 pumpkin with a more freeway friendly ratio say 3.25. Do have a 302 or 352? 352 was the only factory installed V8. Remember when these trucks were new, Ford expected you to haul around 1000 lbs regularly in a 1/2 ton or 2000 lbs in a 3/4 ton and geared them accordingly to haul this weight in just about any region in the country and really didn't see the importance of you driving over 55-60 mph. to get there.

I agree with swapping, unless you go with the AOD. A C6 will actually make the problem a little worse due to torque converter loss.

Pointless conversion IMHO. As stated you'll lose some efficiency and it would doubtful you can find a C6 that will bolt to a 302. I converted my POS slide rail overdrive('79 mustang) to a C5 and that was an improvement only because I had a trans that worked and was relatively cheap. A 302 will not tear up a 435 ever, barring the loose nut behind the wheel.
Put a T5 in it.

I really want a automatic in this truck as I'll most likely drive it semi daily hearing all of this about the c6 I guess I'll try to convince my pops in a AOD
