Hi all I have a 1999 Ford F-250 sd with a5.4 and I have no heat. No loss of anti no overheating the truck runs great. If I blow out the system with air I'll have heat for a short time. 30 to 60 min. And the system is clean as a whistle. This has been going on for over a year. Any advice would be great. Thanks
My advice is to take to to someone who knows what they're doing.
Great way to welcome a newcomer! The guy has one post, and that's your response? Bet he won't be back. My advice to you is to seek therapy. And to maybe heed Mark Twain's advice which, ironically, is posted in your own signature.
To the OP, I have no experience with your problem, but hopefully some HELPFUL person will happen along with more knowledge on the subject.
Therapy? Nope, I'm a realist. I call it as I see it, whether you personally like it or not.
If he's been messing with it for over a year, says he has changed everything, it's fairly obvious he's in over his head.
Realist, there's an overused term, in this case used very loosely. Yeah, he's in over his head, that's why he came here. If everyone who was in over their head took it to someone who "knew what they were doing", then all you good folk that did know what you were doing would just be sitting here talking to each other. I call that a circle jerk. This forum is here to help those that are in over their head. You didn't bother to ask the guy any specifics. Maybe he's so far in over his head, that "have changed everything" might just mean hoses and clamps. Barring any PM's between the two of you, you have assumed much. You know what they say about ***/U/ME.

Air won't move much sludge. Try flushing the heater core with a garden hose, it is more dense than air. Flush it in both directions twice before reconnecting the hoses. If it plugs up again, then your engine and radiator are full of sludge, you'll need to have them professionally flushed.
With the truck warmed up and the heat on...verify that both the supply and return heater hoses are warm to the touch. If there is no coolant flow( it will take a while for the heat to transfer up the supply hose) you may have a heater valve issue or plugged core. If both are warm you are looking at issues under the dash.
