Any suggestions for locating and installing a snowplow on a 1963 f100 4wd, long bed, stepside pickup with a292 and manual tranny? This is my farm utility vehicle and it would be nice to have a plow on it for clearing my driveway.
Thanks, Bertha. I'm getting the sense that auctions or antique sites are gonna be my best shot. Dang, I must be getting old. Might have to rely on good ol farm engineering.
I would like one for my 76; and seen some on the state and federal government sites. But have not bit on one yet, but I am getting older and hand work is not a option as much anymore....
Hadn't thought about Govt sites-great idea! I will send you a link to an ad on craigslist for a new ford plow and four new tires that comes with a free, running ford 4x4, 1974 pickup. The ford is drive able but the front end is squirrelly according to the ad. Might work?

I think I still have a 63 grille with the cut-outs for the plow, I'll look tomorrow.

That is a hell of a deal. And close to my Little Brothers place.
I like the free truck thing. Good sales man. Everyone wants
something for nothing. The plow looks in great shape too.
How damn big is your drive Bud. A 4X4 ATV could work for
most snow removal and still be fun in the sun.
Ive looked into used atvs, utv's, and I may even purchase e nice farmall super a tractor with a plow blade cheaper than all of them. My driveway is a coulple hundred yards at least, including a side driveway back to my cistern and an 8 car pole barn. Got a small fleet of old clunkers in addition to my fords. (someone needs to have his craigslist priveliges suspended, lol)
Craigslist is a great place to pick up a plow. Got this one for $250. Cable style, no electronics to go bad, so to speak. Fresh coat of paint two years ago after some scraping and adding a snow deflector (rubber belting) and it has been a great plow truck. Sure it doesn't have power steering or brakes but it is reliable. Now if we could only get PA to stop putting this stupid salt and corrosives on the roads ruining vehicles. I hope to remove the plow in 5 years then put a new body on it to never be run in the salt again..
DC Clark: that right there is a growed up, haired over, man's truck and plow setup if I ever did see one. I would love to find a plow like that! What a beaut of a truck, sir. My 63 is proof of Neil Young's prophecy-"Rust Never Sleeps" but with the big steering wheel and a plow like yours it would be the perfect cow hippie farm truck. Thanks for the feedback and pic's!
Thanks but looks can be deceiving! This truck is quite the farm / rust truck. The frame is in good condition, but I wouldn't wish the body on anyone. The truck runs good, and that's all I ask out of it. I hope in a few years I can go down south / west and pick up a good body, blast the frame and get it protected for the next generation. Craigslist can be an addiction, but persistence, time and some help with search tempest you will find what you desire!
