While on a trip to Texas this past weekend my high pressure hose on the power steering pump blew out at the pump. Of course it was not a hard fix except this is the second time for it to happen.
As most know it is the o-ring in the swivel fitting that goes.
I am curious to know if anyone here has discovered a "bullet proof" fix for this problem.
I am going to see if a hydraulic shop can fabricate a hose that will replace this poorly designed hose. I am thinking of using either a hard tubing or a stainless braided line rather than the hydraulic hose. I realize the ends must be able to swivel to thread onto the pump and/or the hydro-boost.
Some time back there was a good thread on this with a lot of good information. A lot of variables were brought up like the brand of the replacement hose and most importantly the procedure used to replace the hose, which seems to have the biggest effect on how long it will last. There may have been some ideas on a different set up as well, can't remember. Don't on have time to find that thread at the moment but I am nearly 100% sure it was this site.
