Ford E-SuperDuty???
My question is about the cab/chassis. I am used to seeing E350 and E450 on the cutaways but never noticed one just labeled "E-SuperDuty".
Trying to find out more info. Is it equal to an E350 or E450? I'm sure this is a stupid question but I am not having any luck finding out any specs on this cab/chassis and would love to know what I have before I begin tearing off the RV and adding a sleeper and flatbed.
Thanks.
Are the F450 and E450 equals?
I wasn't sure how to compare the E-Series to the F-Series since the F350 only comes as a dually and the E350 comes with both single or dual rear wheels.
I'm confusing myself now...
Thanks for all the info.

the f-super duty was pre '99.
the f- super duty 1987-1997 was the f450 equivalent (15 k gvwr truck.)
there was no e-super duty as far as i know from 87-97.only the truck.
now however, what you have there is when ford started calling the f250/f350 pickup platform "super duty" as well.as you can see here the vans had a official '98 model year then, unlike the trucks (either called '97 or '99 skipping '98)
so since there was no E-super duty (e450 van from 87-97) then that carry over name of old doesn't help you determine weather or not your platform is 350 or 450 based and the old f-sd/f450 trucks from 87-97 we can therefore gather mean nothing about your '98 van.
even if im wrong, and there was an e-super duty 87-97 that name wouldn't help you determine what the '98 would be anyway.
what is the vehicles gross weight rating?

so it appears to be the 450 platform.
i also just found some info that suggests that the axle code 81 means Dana 80 with 4.63 gearing on the vans.so to go along with the gross weight rating, the axle is also suggesting the platform would be the f450/e450.
i also searched and found there was also a "e350" in '98 as well.so this also implies the e-super duty would be the heavier e450 platform.
so though the f-super duty of old which has nothing to do with weather or not, your newer school van would also mean 450 platform,it turns out ford used the "e-super duty" term to imply 450 platform prior to using e-450 terminology too (however during a different time period.)
oh ford.lol.
it was almost as bad as building two different f250's (least they stopped that foolishness years ago) and two f450's at the same time (well for that matter, they do the f350 as well.) .....you'd think they'd learn but clearly haven't.

so according to ford, this E-40 RV chassis is in between the E-350, and the E-450.
Now if I can just find out what the GCWR is on this '98 E-Super Duty???
They confirmed the E-Super Duty to be the exact same vehicle as the early E450.

I weighed the motorhome a few months ago with all holding tanks empty, half tank of fuel, and only me onboard. It weighed in at 12,520-Lbs. I have since completely removed the motorhome structure as well as the rear frame extensions. It is now as close as I could get it to the way it left the Ford plant as a cutaway cab/chassis. Only the roughly 48" mid-section frame stretch remains. I reweighed the vehicle a few hours ago and it came in at 5,880-Lbs. Again with the same fuel level and only myself onboard. Now its time for the rebuild. I am installing a 72" mid-roof double bunk sleeper cab and a 16'x8' flatbed.
Thanks to all who have helped with the info.
