Hooked up my EBPV for an exhaust brake. Now check engine light is on with code P0475. Is there a way to get rid of it? Because I tried erasing it with my code scanner and it keeps saying it's failed. I don't know how to get the check engine light to go away.
The reason I hooked up the brake was because the valve was sticking on at random times.
You may want to beware on that. A full-on EBPV at the wrong time (like downshifting on the highway, or forgetting it's on and moshing the throttle) can subject your system to backpressures never really intended. Those of us with exhaust brake tunes learn what not to do with the truck, and I pass that on as something to consider.
As for your EBPV switch, it's going to make your EBP sensor go absolutely bonkers when the switch is in use. Exhaust brake tunes tell the PCM it's OK when the EBP sensor acts up, I don't know how to circumvent the alarm without a tune.
And I'm just curious how is it different if I forgot to turn it off -- versus driving with it stuck on like a lot of people do that don't realize it?? Cause I know that there's lots of 7.3 owners that have a sticky EBPV but still drive with it on because they have no idea what it is
Well the 1997 must be different than the 2002 because my 97 I hooked up the EBPV also it is never threw any engine lights.
Plus I don't think I'm gonna use it very much as an exhaust break it doesn't seem to work very well especially compared to my 97 this one blows
There may be differences in the transmission tuning. If the TC is unlocked, you won't get very impressive results. Once the TC is locked (above 30 MPH minimum), it will get your undivided attention.
I had the decel tune from Dp with my 6 speed worked good with 5 inch short exhaust at back of cab it sounded nice worked well until I swapped turbo set up. Just get some tunes for it and use it no lights or worries.
