Got looking under the F350 with a 352 eyeballing my change to a 390 and was suprised at the engine mounts. The question I have is when I find a 390 is there anything I need to be concerned about. The 352 has a center mount up front and two at the rear. Forgive me as I am a Cleveland man...
FE 352-360-390 didn't come with the front motor mount integrated into the timing cover. The FT series did though. It is also possible that somebody took the timing cover off of an FT to use on the FE for the front mount. As Smokenchoken says, more info about the truck is needed.
The current engine is definitely an FE or a 330MD.
A 390 should just bolt in and use the same bellhousing - BUT - keep an eye on the diameter of the crank snout and the dampener and the timing cover seal.
I (and many here) always thought the FT engines were the only ones using the bellhousing and timing cover mounts, but it appears that your particular F350 does too.
Found this, which interestingly enough shows 66-72 F100, and 67-72 F250 4x4 and F350. But NOT your 1966 F350.
Maybe it's time to ask NumberDummy about the motor mount configurations. Maybe the 1966 F350 was considered "medium-duty".

My current thinking is a 390 install. As I am new to FE's and old trucks getting the right engine to fit is my current concern. Hopefully the NP 435 will take around 300 HP.
If I get a 390 will I require engine mounts and if so will they fit on the frame.
Like I said, reuse the bellhousing, and the timing cover, and you're good to go - any FE block should fit.
The NP435 will certainly take the power. Certain ones had different 2nd-gear synchros with one better (or worse) than the other, but overall, they are bulletproof unless you run them out of oil.
I got the casting number. C6ME. According to a block casting sheet I have it could be many types. I believe it to be original but a 352 is not listed on my sheet for 1966. The air cleaner shows 352 and the vin code is a 352.
So just find or build yourself a 390 and swap out the timing cover from the current engine and maybe the oil pan and pickup tube if the pans are different. Apparently there is such a beast as an FE with a front mount timing cover!
You can see it doesn't have any "normal" motor mounts on the sides.

At least it's a '66-up block. According to this, it is definitely possible:
But again, Ford casting numbers are a general guide, not definitive. Most of these lists have been cobbled together over the years based on what has been found in vehicles, not what Ford actually in fact did. And even then, sometimes stuff "just happened".
