I just recently got 1993 f150 for $1300 with 140,000 miles on it, replaced timing cover and harmonic balancer. I want to raise the front end, my friend suggested to replace the springs with f350 springs, he said he did it and replaced the bushings and got everything raised, is there a better route?
That's not dumb, coils are springs too. I thought you were putting in springs from the same year F350 (leaf springs). If you want it to ride well, you need to have a coil that is matched to the weight of your truck. If your friend has already done that swap and it rides OK then you can just follow his lead. Coils or leaves, if the spring rate is wrong, the truck will not perform correctly. Spring rate is critical.

I also want to lift the front of my 1990 F250 with coil springs, Thinking about a leveling kit, opinions?

Been reading around but I think the coil option is a go for me, going to head to the junk yard sometime this weekend to find a good set of f250 or 350 springs, I think my springs might be worn out too adding a dip in the front end.

Before you go through all that effort at the junkyard why not order brand new, non-sagging springs? Get either the Moog cc824 or the cc844 springs. I used the 824 on the front of mine and it levelled the truck perfectly. The 844 brings the nose up but makes the truck ride stiffer.
Oh, and the new pair of springs is $67.99 shipped to your door.

Well you saved me a trip, and it looks exactly like what I need, thanks a bunch.

No problem. The 824s are considered the heavy duty version for the f150s. I have them with mine and it rides awesome. Even with tje 5.8l motor and 4wd, it raised the front over 1.5". It also depends on how much your original springs have sagged.

I am going to take off the grill guard and then replace the springs, the truck bounces just by me stepping on the guard so the springs are probably shot. I think it will go up around 2" probably. Did you have to do any reallignment?

The springs hold the weight of the truck. If it bounces up and down, it's your shocks.

Agreed. I have not done an alinment yet but will be once i get the rest of the steering/suspension replaced. The lift did straghten my wheels more to vertical than being leaned in at the top.

Is their a good set of springs that will bring my front end up? or will those same ones you recomended for his f150 work?

The moog cc844s model is the heavy duty for the f250. They can carry more weight (a plow or winch bumper) and are a bit taller when installed. They should give the nose of your truck an inch or two.
