Dash **** question

Did a search and couldnt really find my answer. I've noticed that some of these trucks have a **** located to the far right of the dash. I'm assuming its something to do with the vent/heater, what is its purpose? My '66 has what I guess is the deluxe heater as its got the two ***** below the dash on the left/middle area.

On the far left and right dash are indents for the vent *****.

A truck could have one, both, or no vent *****.

My 66 with the standard heater had none.

My 64 with the deluxe heater has the left one.

If you have the deluxe heater you will not have the right one.

The hole for the vent **** is small with a slot in it for the **** to seat into.

My 64 had the left **** and a hole where the right **** should have been. I bought a new set, thinking that the right one was missing.

I replaced the left **** and found the hole for the right **** was way to big and didn't have the slot. The PO must have had something else in there. The hole in the dash was slightly smaller than the bezel, I had to use a washer on the backside and install the **** as a non-functioning dummy to hide the hole.

Also, the vent door is different for the trucks with the cable vent vs the trucks that you open and close the vent manually.
