I bet she uses windex and microfiber cloth. She (or was that my wife) just left here and my windows sparkle.

 

all ive ever used to clean any of my windows is straight water and a squeegee... only time ive ever had streaks was when i tried using a cloth towel or paper towel... ive had people tell me to use new paper.. but ive never understood that logic when the ink always comes off on your hands even when it dry... ntm every time ive run behind those same people who swear by it with my water squeegee i get the blackest drip lines running down the window ive ever seen.. that includes doing some of my friends windows that smoke in their cars...

outsides ill treat with rain-x... but insides ive cleaned with nothing but water... works for me..

 

Sorry fellas she is not available, Goodguys in Scottsdale is this weekend and she has to finish getting the truck ready.

Everyone is spot on.. This is what I use and it's awesome. Sprayway is the best as mentioned before. It works similar to the old Windex that comes out in a white foam. The key is to also use a microfiber towel. The combination and you have a streakless window. I'm surprise glass wax was mentioned and I still have a can of it. It's a pink paste that you can apply to a moist sponge and then merely wipe it on the window. Then use a microfiber towel to wipe the white residue off. It's works awesome on chrome surfaces too. I love glass wax but sometime the white powder residue rubs off on other surfaces and you have to clean that as well. BTW. Sprayway is sold at Walmart in the detergent, window cleaner sections. Save a few a bucks that way.

 

Thanks for the answers from everybody. I'm a keep it simple kind of guy so I'm going to try the sprayway and micro fibre towel. If that doesn't work I'll give the newspaper a shot with the sprayway.

 

An old friend of mine who is old and keeps up on the best of the best told me about INVISIBLE GLASS. I tried it and I think it works pretty well. The test to me is on mirrors and my wife is pretty impressed. You can find it at most auto parts stores and once you buy it you will then see it at many stores like Target and Walmart.

I also use Invisible Glass. It needs a little elbow grease, but works well.

 

I use spray glass cleaner I get from the wndsheild replacment guys. Its their own brand. works great. And yes Newspaper is better than cloth.

 

I was just thinking - The FTE group must have the cleanest windsheilds of anybody in the whole country. We really are a bunck of picky old characters aren't we?

I'm not **** about clean streak free glass, but my barracks drill Sargent sure was!

 

Ok, there are two things in my life I can't fix, a broken heart and glass
cleaning. I have tried done everything you guys mention. What calls my
attention is that I had the glass guy come to my shop and replace my
truck windshield. I provided a used windshield. (just payed the labor)
Ok so as a usual glass guy he cleaned it with a common no name spray
bottle. I can smell a whiff of kerosene or something. So of course I asked,
and just gotta smile (trade secret & aint no windex) he said? anyone have
a clue? oh it was wiped with plain ole paper shop towels no streaks no
nothing...& did'nt smell like any store bought glass cleaner.. And then
I know when they cut safety glass- they use lighter fluid & lite it on fire.
So it just could be a mix of lighter fluid???? gonna try that...
