Does anyone else have issues getting their glass clean? I have a '15 and i have tried every type if glass cleaner under the sun, different types of paper towels and cloths, and i have a real heck of a time cleaning the glass, inside and outside. The glass cleans off but always leaves a residue or oily haze that i have to rub the crap out of with another towel to get off.
Plus my windshield seems to eat wipers. They dont last very long before they start to smear and skip. I probably have to change them 5 times a year to keep up. My windshield almost acts like it always has a worn out layer of rainx on it. Ive cleaned it with mineral spirits and steel wool hoping it would disolve anything that was applied to the winshield prior to my purchase , but with no luck.
Ive never had this type of issues with glass cleaning with all the vehicles ive had. So just seeing if anyone has had anything like this.
I buy my glass cleaner from Shine Supply online. It’s the best stuff I have ever used. I also bought the glass cleaning cloth they suggest using as well. I buy it by the gallon, but they have a smaller quantity available.
Shine Supply is a detail supply shop, and I found out about them because I had a ceramic coating put on my truck, and you have to use a special soap to wash it. This is where the guy who did my coating suggested I buy it from them. If you ever have any questions about the products, Jeremy, the owner, is awesome and will explain everything and how to use them.
My windshield is a pain too. I got it pretty clean inside. Rubbermaid microfibers do the best job on glass that I have found. The outside is another story. It is never really clean, even after 0000 steel wool and liquid Bon Ami. The wipers only work well for maybe 2 months.
I bought new wiper arms to try to make things better, and they have. I’ e used every brand of wiper blade I can find. PIAAs lasted the longest, a full year. Since then I have had OEM premium replacements, Trico Titan synthetic and regular OEM replacements. I’ll get PIAAs again next time.
My glass has a chemical shadow on the exterior that will not go away. You can see it when it’s foggy or high humidity. Nothing takes it off. You have to look at it just right to see it.
I figure that one day the windshield will get a rock crack and need replacing. That’ll take care of that.

Ya exactly, ive tried the regular cheap blades, the expensive curved blades, and most major brands, none seem to last or work better than the other.
In my experience, any foam glass cleaner will outperform any liquid glass cleaner.
During or after each washing, take a terry towel and wipe your blades clean. This will increase their lifespan and performance.
I typically use a foam cleaner and they usually do the trick, but after this glass ive used foam, liquid, wipes, everything. And I do wipe the blades down like you described.

That is sort of what I notice. If I take a dry clean cloth, I can really put some elbow grease into it and it will eventually rub out.
Mineral spirits or paint thinner – Never recommended for cleaning a surface because it can leave an oily residue. ... Typically not used for cleaning tools and equipment. Acetone – Good for cleaning substrates.
i do it 3-4 times with windex inside, newspaper helps with streaks over paper towels and raggs
The plastic dash gives off vapors that leaves that oil residue that creates the messes ,its a never ending battle BUT
if you do it often it helps.....
The outside window I use BonAmi...its cheap and cleans glass like no ones biz
I could prob try it inside too just never have,Bon Ami is 100 year old stuff
Once you get a build up of material on the inside it can be a real pain to get it clean. I found using a Mr Clean magic eraser works wonders for getting that annoying film off the inside.
