Service Uh Oh?

I do not know if this has any relative bearing at all to some of the fuel related failures we have been seeing with a lot of hit and miss with age, mileage, usage and change intervals but...I was at my local dealer getting tires put on the wifes MKz when I see a tech changing the top fuel filter on a 6.4.

As I watched I picked up on him continuously wiping his face. I mean repeatedly. He was right over the bowl inspecting it for debris I suppose. He finishes by dropping the new filter in and gets the cap on then steps down.

This time I get a looks see and this dude was sweating bad. It was so bad that I felt compelled to write this to throw out there that from what I had seen, nothing stops sweat from being introduced into the system when changing the top filter as he was.

Whats the probability that sweat contamination can play a roll in HPFP failure?

A lot lower probability than water getting past the original HFCM filter before they redesigned it with an added O-ring.

Hey good to know thanks. Do you know the year when the redesign was implemented?

As far as I can tell from a quick search of my maintenance log I found out about the change at the begining of May 2010 and on May 6th I yanked the FD4609 set that had about 3k on it out of my truck and replaced it with the updated FD4617 set.

Haha that would have a good ring to it- True cause of HPFP failures; blood sweat and tears of ford mechanics.
