So I have an 86 F250 and it's 6.9 has 187,000 miles on it and I believe original injectors and injection pump, now I have turned the injection pump up about 1/4 turn. ANYWAY my question is when it's cold she is clean out of the tailpipe, no visible smok. Now when my truck starts to reach operating temp she starts to haze a thin film of white smoke, now my question is, could it be that my injection pump is slightly worn out and there isn't as much pressure inside not spraying as much fuel, or could it be old dirty clogged injectors? If anyone could help me out it would be nice, thanks.
Does the smoke smell like diesel or like antifreeze?
One thing you can try is to warm it up to operating temperature and then hook a jumper wire between battery + and the Cold Advance solenoid on the IP(it's the rear-most terminal right on top). It should make the engine louder when you engage it, too.
If the smoke goes away with that solenoid powered, you need to adjust your timing.
