I was driving on a long, pretty bumpy dirt road to go hunting this weekend when my ABS light suddenly came on. Noticed no issues with truck so went all weekend with it on. Now back at home, hooked up an Innova w/abs reader and it came back with just one code - C1173. All I can find on this code is a description
"C1173 Park Brake Switch # 1 Released Circuit Short to Gnd"
I assume this has something to do with the switch for Park Brake, but what exactly? I've checked the switch and it appears to be fine and is plugged in. And why on earth would the Park brake switch generate the ABS light??
I had no other codes other than U0306 Software Incompatiblity with FICM, which I guess I'll figure that one out later - it doesn't generate a MIL, so guess it's ok (I do run a FICM programmer by PHP).
Probably won't help you much but .....does your 'parking brake' light work now? if not did it the last time you remember using it before this incident?
Yea, the brake light always worked. Not sure what's going on. I cleared the ABS code. Drove truck about a block around house and light came back on. New code is C1145 which is right front sensor issue - so I think I can at least narrow it down now...hopefully it's just the sensor and not an issue with wiring between the hub and ABS unit - PITA!

Sounds like you at least have a place to start looking, Good luck, I hope it turns out to be a minor problem.
