SO I have searched and cant seem to find anything on my problem.
I have been having a intermittent problem with my steering. when I turn my wheel to go around a corner doing about 30 MPH it would feel like my truck was not turning all the way and then all of a sudden it "lets go" and feels "normal". This mainly happens first thing in the morning or when the truck sits for some time.
Now I have been to the shop and they told me the ball joints, tie rod ends and steering arm are all good. But I think that it might be some sticky ball joints. But Im not sure so that's why Im asking you. I dont want to just through parts at it.
I just fought this exact problem. In my case, after it "let go" I also got a back and forth "pull" in my steering that made me feel like a drunk driver on the road. I pulled my steering stabilizer and that seemed to fix the problem a bit, but it was still there. My tech checked all the steering and suspension parts and all were good. I broke down and bought a new Red Head Steering gear and my tech put a new stabilizer on it at the same time. It was about $650 all in total and my steering is now beautiful. Go for the Red Head for sure!

I forgot to mention that I just put a Bilstein steering stabilizer on and it did tighten the steering up but the problem is still there. So I might have to bite the bullet and buy the steering gear.
