Any recommendations on shocks for my 69 F100 long bed with 390/C6?
It's too bouncy right now and I'm pretty sure the existing shocks are on their last legs. I'll be buying from Rock Auto because they ship quickly to UK but there seems to be so much choice. I assume the ones they have under the heavy duty section would be best. Cheers.
My 80 F100 has KYB silvers up front, I had air shocks in the rear but the wheel bounce was bad.
I retro fitted Suburban 4x4 shocks by Bilstein in the rear. Very pleased. I found them on Ebay for 2 bucks each plus shipping.
Loop to loop style. I took a chance that the chev shocks would work on the rear of the Ford, and was lucky.
Air stocks are for load control. Not recommended for 4wd off roading as they are known to have to much re-coil on wash board or bumpy roads.
Many guys put on a 4wd for more clearance but that not that good off road.
Yrs ago, I was haven a pair of free rear air shocks that, I put on a 4wd scout.
As it was in need of new ones. I soon found that, I had to reduce my speed when going off road on wash board roads. I tried all different air pressures to no real satisfactions other max psi was the best. I ended up removing them with in a few months.
