HI FTE, so my FPR was leaking diesel all over the engine compartment, so i replaced it with the blue spring upgrade from ford.

I installed it, no problems on the install, before i turned the truck on, i was told to cycle the fuel pump 5-6 times to purge any air.

After i did that turned on no problems, no leak no sound.

A day later, when i turn the key to prime the pump i hear a whinning sound.

There is no preformance issues, cranks over and turns on no problem, just a nasty sound.

Wondering if that is normal at first or what the hell is that sound, i can post a video soon if yall want
Did your FPR require the use of the black bushing that comes in the blue spring kit? If so did you install the oring that goes between the black bushing and the fuel filter housing?
With the blue spring, it should idle between 60-65. At full throttle it should drop to 52 - 57. Ford states it should never drop below 45 at anytime. I would be uncomfortable if mine dropped below 50.
The best picture I could find quickly. As you can see ther is a o-ring BEHIND the black plastic cup if your regulator has a cup/bushing. Also, no pics but there are two styles of housing that use two styles of cup. One has an extra shoulder on the outside. Make sure they match (old/new). Leaving out the o-ring behind the cup has been reported to make a sound you can hear with the engine running.
do a search for fuel pressure gauge, there is an adapter you need. I don't remember the specifics, but you need it adapt from one type to another. tons of info from this forum, it'll make your head spin.
Where can i get a pressure test gauge, i dont want to spend like $70 on a gauge to install...
One way to look at it is injectors are 220 bucks a piece and if you hit them with low fuel pressure and damage some injectors the cost will far exceed the cost of the gauge.
when inside the fuel filter housing... you have access to the little plastic peice... if i were to remove the filter could i add the oring fromthere? or does the FPR have to come off? just wondering?

You have to remove the fuel pressure regulator cover, look at the above post from Rusty, in the photo it shows the exploded view of the regulator.
