Need help, low fuel pressure.

Long story short I recently replaced 4 bad injectors. Once I got the truck running I went searching for a cause as to why I lost the injectors and found I was only getting 40- 45 psi at idle and would fall off quickly if any load was put on the motor. I parked it and assumed the fuel pump was going bad as I have the blue spring update.

Well today I installed the new fuel pump and fired it up, Same result. I took apart the fuel pressure regulator as I thought maybe there was something causing the bleed valve to stay open. Everything was clean. FYI fuel filters have maybe 800 miles on them and look brand new.

One more thing, 50,000 miles ago when I did the harpoon mod I found the pick up foot broken in the tank and had to replaced it. Maybe an obstruction of piece plastic from the old pick up? If that was the case I do not see how the injectors would have survived this long.

Any ideas? I am at a loss.

When you did the blue spring upgrade did you need the black bushing that came in the kit? And if so did you install the oring that goes between the black bushing and the filter housing?

You mean the black bushing that the that the brass cup sits in? Yes i did need it and I would have to check. If the O-ring was missing it would cause the pressure to bleed off correct?

Use the Rancore filters so I am good there. Will check for the missing o ring behind the black bushing tomorrow afternoon. I had it apart today and I do not recall seeing the o ring but I was not looking for it.

If that is it I will feel really stupid but relieved it is that simple.

Is it a special o ring? I looked at some pictures online and it looked like a normal o ring. Reason I ask is if I did not install it it was thrown away. Just want to make sure it is no a OEM only deal.

You nailed it, apparently someone forgot to install this o ring. Found a temporary o ring that will work and will get installed in the morning and test.

Need to post up to see if anyone has that o ring they can ship to me as finding an exact fit has proven to be very difficult. Would hate to buy a new kit for a part that most people throw out.

This is what I was thinking. It's really not an o-ring it's more like a rubber bushing.

No. There is a plastic sleeve that the blue spring and brass cup go into on the 03-04 trucks. The o ring seals this plastic sleeve.

There are some good pictures at the end of the "Fuel Pressure Regulator Update Kit Install (Blue Spring)" thread i just bumped looking for the oring.

I was thinking it was the one on the brass part. The oring for the plastic is just an o ring

Wow, there's another one of those double stepped "sleeves". That has been a problem for some trucks - not having the right one in the kit. Did that one come out of your truck or the kit?
