I have to replace the LED on the circuit board of the passenger Airbag on/off switch on my 2000 F-250.My question is, do I just look for a 12v yellow LED.
Of course Ford doesn't carry the LED or know anything about it but are happy to sell me the whole switch for 125.00.Thanks in Advance!!
No idea of how to fix it...
nor if I'd bother if it were just a light issue
but have you checked at a 'recycling' yard looking for a wreck that has the same part number ?
most have parts locators too so they can find it for you...
good luck
Thanks for the response and idea jdadamsjr. Looking through all the threads on this issue, have seen many different part numbers and different ideas. It's a bulb issue and just two solder joints. Some have replaced them with LED's which last forever so I figured on hour of my time and one less idiot light on my dash. From all that I read, I can do it with 12v Dc LED with a built in resistor (I THINK). I'm not LED savvy so I'm going to take the circuit board to Radio Shack and see what we can figure out. I will post the Part number when I get it working.
I only had to pop the dash cover off about 4 inches out from the radio. My truck took a 7/32 socket to get the module out and I ended up going to two different Radio Shacks and of course no one knew anything about LED's. I bought Part number 276-0209 which is a Red LED 5mm 12VDC.20mA.1.5mcd and it works great and it blends in nice behind the Lens and most of all code 27 the flashing light is gone!!
