New HEI distributor question

I have a 1987 460 w/ carb. I was having some issues with getting spark and after working on it for awhile I decided to replace the ford ignition system with a new HEI distributor. I has a self contained coil and all you have to do is run 12 volts to it and you're good. Trouble is, there are 2 tabs that input into the distributor..The directions just say run keyed hot to the distributor. I assume one is 12v and one is ground. But I don't know which is which. Does it matter? If it does, anyway I can test which is which? I am going to call the seller tomorrow. Thanks.

Nevermind. Printing was a little small so used a magnifying glass, Batt-tach.
