That was cool!
It looks like it didn't take off in the US. Spending $60 to $100K for a Volkswagen just didn't seem to fly.

But, it looks like they are going to try to bring it back with a redesign.

That is an interesting point, but I wonder if it really cost much more to set up than an ordinary plant, or to keep it running once done.
Harrier, I haven't seen a lot of them running around the streets here either.

That's a very cool factory. I have to wonder how many they sell of that one model to offset the cost of the factory. But maybe since the robotics work for free they have less assembly line workers to pay.
My only concern is the narrator said that bug he drove away in was the "original". It looks like about a '70 or newer bug to me. And the first ones were built in '38 and looked very little like that one. Bumpers, headlights, rear window, taillights are all different. Maybe he meant "Type 1" ...
