Tuning the 5R110

I have swapped a 12 Valve into my 2005 F350 Lariat and was wondering who out there has had good experiences and luck tuning the 5r110?? My truck runs and drives now relatively good. I had it custom tuned (not handheld tuner) back when it had the 6L but but now it never wants to grab the next gear. It just wants to rev, but does eventually shift. My buddy tuned his own with a laptop and 20 hours of driving and tuning. What do I need to do that?

There is an aftermarket controller by PCS that you could try

I actually have a pcs here but all the conversion gurus I talked with said don't use it. The stock tcm controls the 5r110 quite well as long as a good tune is designed. Mine is, if I had to put a number on it, would be a 6.5-7 outta 10. Good enough, but could be a lot better

The stock tcm is built into the pcm. What did the gurus tell you to do for a tune?

Ive been told to get a custom tune from innovate, dcs in kalispel, or others. That way I keep tow haul and honestly it's less a pita for having to wire in. A buddy did his first conversion and got the software somehow to tune his own. Said he's never had an auto shift as well with the truck & angine setup as well as his 03 cummins & 05 f350/5r110. But he did it himself
