Recently I lost the red lens part of one of my side marker lights on my '72, and one of the screws. As chance would have it, I was in the Concord, NC area on Wednesday so I stopped by Dennis Carpenter's and I bought two replacements (so both sides would match). However the new lights did not come with new screws. The previous owner of my truck had replaced some of the screws, but they are not the original type. Exactly what screws do I need for these lights?
The screws my PO used look like wood screws. They function, but I just don't like the way they look. This truck is a daily driver, not a show piece. I don't have to have NOS, but I just don't want them to look obviously wrong from 25 feet away!! LOL

Panhead, stainless steel machine screws. Head to Lowe's or Ace Hardware .. they both carry a good selection of SS hardware.
Next time at the JY... you do go to JYs, right? ... assemble a collection of interior and exterior trim screws, J-nuts/ U-nuts, bolts, springs, clips, etc. Ya never know when one of them lil buggers break or sprouts legs and walks away.
I paid $5 for a large Zip-Lok bag of very miscellaneous hardware and store them in a large plastic compartmentalized boxes from Harbor Freight.
#8-18 x 1". That's what I needed. THANKS, ND! I'll find me some nice stainless screws.
HIO, I used to do the junk yard thing quite often, but not so much anymore. I drove several old, worn-out Chevrolets when I was a kid. I had to keep them running somehow, so I do know what you're talking about. Trust me, I've obtained a pretty decent-sized array of used vehicle parts from junk yards over the years!
Found some nice stainless screws at my local Ace Hardware. The best I could tell, they look just like the ones I took out of the other side, so I am satisfied. The bin they were in at the store wasn't labeled, and the fellow who helped me only charged me 20¢ each for them. I bought 10 so I would have some spares.
