I'm going there Monday to work it out. The first Ford dealership had no problem printing me out the sample order with the total X-plan price...but they low-balled me on my trade.
This Ram/dodge/Chrysler dealer offered me what I wanted for my trade on the Ram i test drove. The Ford dealership is under the same name ownership wise...so I hope they will honor their first offer on my trade.
Thanks for everything so far, I'll let yall know what happens tomorrow

Go get Em' the ram dealer could probably offer more for the trade because you were not getting a discount. It all seems like a shell game to me when you trade something in.

The Ram guys did offer $3k off without me even asking.
And yeah, trading in a vehicle is one of the big no-no's of life...but who knows how long I'll have to sit on it just to get another $1k out of it. I listed it for $13.9k and have had no hits. I woulda taken $13k all day long. $12k no questions asked, no test drives, no no-shows, no trips to the bank, etc...sure! Looks like I'm getting X-plan price anyways, so it's not like they're rolling it into the price of the new one.
I just got back from the dealership. I found the salesman and said I wanted to talk numbers. I told them I wanted them to match the $12k offer of their other location. They said they would if they took delivery of my truck today. He stuck out his hand to shake on it.
I said hold on a minute! What's the price of the truck?
They could never tell me the price of the truck! Not even X-plan price. I pulled out the X-plan order sheet from the first dealership to show them what it looked like, and they've never seen anything like it before. WTF?
How the hell did they expect me to sign my truck away and order a vehicle with NO price, no total finance number, and no clue as to the monthly payment?
I walked. I'll take the loss on my trade at the first dealership before I deal with these guys again...
I think I'm back on track. I found a dealer about 30 miles away that wants to work with me. Gave me what I asked on trade-in...and will have a X-plan price for me tomorrow or Monday. Super nice guys in a small town.

I remember back in 2000 when I ordered my first F250. Had to visit a few dealers before I found one that wanted to sell a truck. Talked to the commercial truck manager and had a deal in a few minutes. Some dealers and salespeople like to play games and only sell when they make a killing.
Just be sure he shows you the invoice and you can see the numbers for yourself.
Definitely! I'm not even picking up a pen before seeing the price of the truck, total net price financed, and what my monthly payments will be.

Agreed After dealing with many over the years, and hearing all the internet stories over the past 14 years I've been on forums...I am very leery of salesman. I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths. I guess that's why I've been so impatient this time around. I walk in, show them the print-out of the truck I want...and I just tell them to show me the X-plan price (I haven't seen one for the current truck I built yet), and give me $12k for my trade.
If they can't do it, I walk out.
The way I see it, I could just be another person walking in looking to buy at a set price. Dealer makes money, I save some...win-win. Now that I throw a trade on top of it...the dealer is going to make more money on top of the original deal, yet they don't want to. The largest Ford dealership in the area gave me the lowest offer on my trade...stating in an email that they "specialize in dealing in volume."
