Hi guys, My 04 just rolled a 100k and I am trying to slowly get around to all the fluids, and do some other maintenance stuff. What oil goes in the front and rear diffs? Thanks
Oh, one more thing. Anybody have FSM they would be willing to scan the directions on how to change the fluid and filter in my transmission?
Those are lubricated for life and do not need to be changed unless they were worked on or if they became submerged under water. But if you insist, both use 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil. If the rear is a limited-slip then you first have to toss in 4.0 ounces of friction modifier. Each will take just under 2 liters.
For the tranny it about as basic as you can get. Just drop the pan to drain the fluid, pull out the filter, install the new one, clean the tranny pan, reinstall it, fill the tranny.
Perfect, Mine has the same plug. Ill have to get to it here within another couple weeks.
Not sure if my new to me 04 Expy has the drain plug or not. I have also been looking for procedures on fluid changes, and found the attached link on transmission flush. I have used this procesure on my 4R100 and it worked great. Contacted Ford yesterday @ filter FT-105, they want $45. Anybody use anything else?
