Any one done rear brakes on a E350 with a dana m70 hd?
I searched a lot a while ago and couldn't come up with much. I do remember finding that there is a plate that rusts out that causes the parking brake not to work.
The parking brake is my main concern. I hate resting this 5ton truck on the tranny. I tried tightening the adjuster up. It helped but still won't hold on hills. I just ordered a factory service manual for this thing.
I figure I'll go ahead and order the plates, pads and spring kit. Anything else I should get or advice? Possibly anything to try before I go for the rear brakes? Does anyone know what axle nut key I need?
if you have the dana 70 with disc brakes, your parking brake is inside the rotor surface, just like a little brake drum. shoes often fall apart and jam up, or adjusters seize and can't be backed off to remove the rotor. I have had to cut the rotor in half before to access the park brake mechanism.
have a real good look at the shop manual diagrams before you attempt the repair. you will need shoes and hardware but the rest of the park brake parts are usually reusable. LUBE THE ADJUSTERS when reassembling.
Look Man ..Do not get discouraged..biggest deal is getting the puta Off the ground and the wheels off...After that it gets better...untill you have to put the wheels back on.....If yu need help PM me.....
Ha wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I love the detail. This isn't my first rodeo. I just like to be prepared, I can't screw up my baby. Thanks though I will take you up on the offer if things don't go as expected.
