There's a safety switch on the clutch pedal, if the clutch is not 'disengaged' (down) it shorts out the spark, for a no start. The switch could also be bad, and possibility jumping/bypassing it would not kill the spark
And, one more thing, Check the grounds, Battery-body-engine grounds. Check the connectors, and even the cable inside the loom.
