I have no turbo pressure and there is a bad exaust leak throwing soot all firewall and surrounding area. It feels like it's right where the up pipes meet the turbo. I need to get this fixed ASAP but don't know the best way to get after it. How would you remove up pipes? I can't afford shop so it's DIY only. 08 6.4 120k stock (unfortunately).
It is near impossible not impossible to do without removing the cab or removing the transmission. Cab off is the easiest. Pulling the trans is the next easiest and dropping the trans mount and letting the trans and engine sag using a floor jack is about the hardest. Without doing any of this you can get them loose but getting them out is the issue.
You will want to use plenty of rust penetrating oil like PB blaster B'laster's PB Penetrating Catalyst - Best penetrant and rust inhibitor and good quality tools. If you strip the bolts or break the bolts it quickly becomes cab up only repair. The dealer generally states its a cab up job because thats the only accurate way to properly re torque the bolts after the installation of the new up-pipes from what i understand.
There are also much better up-pipes avaliable aftermarket such as these,

Thanks for info! I love pb blaster. The thing is I do not know where I would get a lift to remove cab. So transmission may be dropped. Is there any step by step instructions. If not ive pulled a transmission before. Just not 100% confident.
Also I know there are better pipes and that I should get 6.0 manifolds also. But will it work since my truck doesn't have a tune yet?

No it just starting making a weird noise, like someone was blowing a kazoo. I actually ran it that way for a while because I couldn't afford the repair at the time. The dealership worked with me to reduce the cost a lot.
