Have a 95 ECCIV swb half ton with a 351. Rust free truck just up from Houston and on a road trip it started to cut out (ignition) Tach would go to zero. It did bounce back to keep moving, but then cough and sputter again. but just a half mile from my farm it quit. The trip was a couple of hundred miles, not a super warm day this time of year. Walked to the farm and went back to tow it back and it started right up. It probably had an hour or so to cool down. Ignition module is on the left fender near the firewall, and not a real hot spot. This still has a distributor. Any quick thoughts? Intermittants are a nightmare, as I know, and this is no exception. I will swap the ign module, but other than that? I've got a rotunda break out box that I'll leave on the seat for a while, no codes were set so it's not of to much use. Thanks
Sounds like the PIP sensor inside the distributor that is mounded on the stator.
The code that it will set will be in CM and most do not look in the CM area to find codes, just KOEO and KOER areas.
Make sure that the ICM (Ignition Control Module)is black in color also as your truck is not wired for the gray one.
