Duraspark II Ignition Module Failure?
Yesterday I stepped on my '78 F-150 at a stoplight and after initially pushing me back in my seat, it sputtered. I started looking for somewhere to get it off the road, but it came back to life under 1500 RPM's. I got it to putter home, firing on all 8 cylinders provided that I kept the R's below 1500. It refired fine and idled very smoothly once home.
I happened to have an ignition module behind my seat as a spare, and I swapped it in. The truck runs great with the spare in place, so the problem is solved. I'm running a complete Duraspark II ignition from a 351M in the truck's 351C, which seems to work very well.
I'd always been under the impression that module failure=walking home. Is this something anyone on the list has ever experienced? I assume this is one of many ways these things can fail.
Just curious, thanks in advance, Bob
those cheap parts store replacements last as long as motorcraft ones.

That's quite rare since they stopped making them in the early 70's

AFA the module is concerned make sure there is enough space behind it when it's mounted for air to cool it.
The C is just a block I scrounged up and built with flat tops and my re-conditioned 2V M-block heads. It's pretty mild with an RV cam, 600 CFM carb and Edelbrock Performer. I attached it to a rebuilt C-6 from an 80's E-150. I need to dig up the casting number on the block to see what year it is. But you're right, not the original motor.
