truck died the other day. because its a pwner ford i still got it home by a combo of towing/ driving and the mechanic said he thought it was the ignition module and this was common . havent brought it to him cause dont really need it till this summer but my question is has anyone ever heard if this was common or had it happen to them before thnx in advance
There is a well known heat failure problem with these modules but that was when the modules were mounted on the distributor and your truck should have the fix which was to move it to the fender and mount it in a heatsink.
But don't go guessing and changing parts blindly you could spend a lot of money on the wrong parts, instead pull the codes first to see what has been flagged, if it's ignition related there will be codes for that, and if not then you have a fuel supply problem or something else.
