80' F350 No Spark, No Start
Ok guys trying to get my F350 running, I have a guy coming sunday to listen to engine run. Had 351/400 when new, now has 429
I have fuel but no spark. Last time I touched the truck 3 years ago I had a starting issue so i just pushed it back in the garage. It looks like I changed the coil.
I cleaned cap and rotor But still nothing.
It has been forever since I haveworked on one of these gassers. What should i be looking for?
I have red and green wires on coil.
red says "tach" in the plastic cap that snaps onto coil and goes to the - terminal
green looks like it goes to distributer and is attached to + terminal on coil
Is that right?
How can I test the coil? Coil gets so hot in 10 min of key being on you can NOT touch it
it has a duraspark box on the fender with the "blue" plug
EDit. With coil out of truck..
Across + and - I am getting 1.6 ohms
From = or - to high side I am getting 9.08K
So I am getting good readings(I googled how to test coil on you tube)
I am guessing ignition modual

Well I figured it out. From everything i could find the red wire was supposed to go to the + terminal on the coil and the green was supposed to go to the neg.
So I swapped both wires. Not sure if the aftermarket coil was made wrong or what. then I went to AutoZone and got a new Ignition modual. She fired right up!!
