6.0L won't start

6.0L won't start
2003 Ex 6.0L 2wd limited 130k miles
Hello everyone,
I have been getting no starts on the truck lately. It started about 6 months ago and would give me one every month, now its like 6 a week.
All electronics come on with the key switch, the glow plug light comes on and I hear everything normal but go to crank and nothing.
New batteries, new alternator about 3 months ago. I'm sure its not that.
Any ideas? FICM? starter? a relay? I was hoping maybe a relay and something I could try changing for a few bucks.
about 3 months ago I had steering column open and took a look while I was in there for any chaffed wires couldn't see any.

Hi Don,
when I turn the key all accessorie light and even glow plugs warm, radio comes on, ac comes on, but turn it that little bit more to engage the starter and nothing....like its dead. So I will roll the key backwards to off then back on.....I do it about ten times and then the starter engages with the cranking and she starts. Hope that helps

Sounds to me like a starter issue. I had same thing happen on mine, turn key to on, everything comes up normal, but turn to start and nothing. Replaced starter, easy job, and works fine now. If you want to check before replacing, get a test light, and have someone help you. Put lead on the little wire on the solonoid and have them turn key to start, should have light come on. If light and no start, then bad starter/solonoid. if no light, then electrical issue somewhere else.
