Hey guys I need info on crate engines for my ford f1,my 226 h has water in cylinders getting too costly to fix.I want to install a ford 302 from speedway made by blueprint.Has anyone used these motors with success? Also I researched Phoneix Engine for a turnkey motor 302-320hp,approx 12 weeks build time, any help would be appreciated, also if you know of some other company I am open to suggestions,Thanks

I second this, there's nothing outstanding about these engines that would give me any reason to get them from so far away, (I'm assuming that Phoenix Engines is in Arizona.)

I have a question, Are all, some, most, crate engines just rebuilt using seasoned blocks, with the exception of the ones you would buy direct from Ford or Chevy?

yup. Almost all of your local shops are going to use used blocks to start from, get them back to spec, maybe put it in some higher performance stuff, balance it some. Or they've got the crate motors like you mentioned, which are going to be factory fresh, and quite a bit more. However, for your high performance, high spenders, they will sell new blocks, and I'm pretty sure GM (I'm sure ford does the same) sells blocks that still have some of the final machining left to be done on the block so the builder can get really tight with their specs, again, these motors are getting to be crazy expensive when you have a shop doing it for you, so most people end up getting the freshened up older engines, with maybe a little tweaking done for a few extra horses.

What kind of budget do you have for this engine? Coming from the mustang world I've dealt with 5 litre Fords for a long time and have used or know lots of these engine builders. I'm on my phone so I can't see where you are located....that would help me as well. You have lots of options....so many you'll get tired of trying to pick one. I'd be glad to help.
