Running Headlights

Okay, I've searched Google and this forum, and maybe I haven't looked deep enough, but I can seem to find the answer to my question. Hopefully someone here can help.

How do I stop the headlights from being on anytime the key is on? I only want them to come on when I turn the switch.

I'm a big boy now; I'm potty-trained, can dress myself, and can even make a meal for myself (occasionally). Why can't Ford trust me to turn on my headlights when I need them and turn them off when I don't?

The truck is a 2001 F350 Lariat. Any guidance will be appreciated...

Get in the underhood fuse box and pull fuse #12, 15 amp. See if that gets rid of them. make sure your high and lowbeams work after this. They should unless I missed something.

The DRL's are required by law in Canada. Maybe your truck was destined for Canada or had been there at one time, though a lot of trucks do have them down here also. I do see a lot of people down in the states who are not grown up. It's cloudy and rainy, they do not turn their headlights on. And they wait till the last minute in the evening before they turn them on. It's ok, I understand they can see fine, but it's not all about them. It's about people like me also, who have to look down the road before I pull out in traffic, and having their headlights on in the rain helps me see them better before I pull out in front of people, or change lanes.

With DRLS you don't have to think about it as much.

Ha! I wish it was just a Cali issue, then all the goof-***** that can't seem to remember to turn on their lights in the rain wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Thanks Franklin! That did the trick.

I don't know if there is a cure for the stupid things that we do while driving (although I do have an idea that in need to patent), but at least now when I pull my truck into the driveway at night, I don't have to shine my lights into my neighbors windows if I don't want to. They are nice folks and it bugs me that I didn't have the choice.

Thanks Again for the help!
