Are you saying that you are not able to get your engine to rev over 3500 rpm? Are you at full throttle? What happens when you try? Does the transmission shift before it revs over that number? We need more info please.

At hwy speeds it will not go over 3500 rpm ,push throttle down ,then engine starts to bog down. In park with pedal to floor ,just 3500 rpm.
my driving range is 1500RPM to 2000RPM. Even at highway speeds, I have never seen my RPM go past 2000RPM's so if the limit was 3500....that would still work for me.

This engine is in a 30 foot RV ,and when you climb hills you actually access the higher rpm scale ,especially towing another vehicle. So ,f I can't rectify this problem then the vehicle is wothless for travel.
If you have never seen your RPM's go above 2000, you must not tow, or have to go up any sort of incline at high way speeds. These engines need to rev to make power. I tow a 6.5K pound travel trailer, and going over some of the passes where I live, I have been over 4000 rpm more than a few times.
First, if your not seeing anything more than 3,500 rpms, you have issues. The 6.8L should freely rev into the 5k rpm range without any issue. Second, don't rev any engine hard in idle, without a load on the engine there is always a risk associated with it. Matter of fact several vehicles will limit the RPMs in neutral, can't remember if the V10 is this way or not.
Speakerfritz, how it the world would you drive an 7k-8k lb truck around with a gas engine and not rev over 2k rpms? That sounds ridiculous unless your driving flat pavement, in perfect weather, and at speeds less than 25 mph!I honestly don't believe that but remind me not to get behind you in traffic! Heck when hooked to the camper, I'll run for hours at 2,800-3,200! I honestly don't know if it would move my camper at less than 2k rpms and that's with a built trans and 4.56 gears!
