hello, just joined.
I need some help with a c6 trans, my truck is an 86 f150 302 efi, its a c6 used trans, I've had the pan off to check filter, hardly anything in pan, fluid clean not burnt, refilled with old fluid and topped with new to fill.I have it on jack stands, tires off.
the trans acts like it low on fluid, I hooked a gauge to it and the needle goes
0--50--0--50--0--50--0 at idle in all gears and drums spin stop spin stop.
if I rev it to 1500-2000 the needle fluctuates like crazy between 50 and 90 in park and forward gears and 50 to 150-160 in reverse. the fluctuation is steady like a burnt valve would show on vacuum gauge, like jump jump jump, fast.
it shifts thru the gears when rev'd, I added more fluid to see if it helped/wrong dipstick, same results, any help would be appreciated
thanks for the reply. yea the converter was normal, didn't pay attention to much more and took 3 qts to fill.
started it today, pressure came right up to 55 held steady for a minute then dropped.
when I drained the pan to check filter I dumped that used fluid back in, don't like putting all new fluid in used tranny plus the 3 qts I mentioned, converter was full when put in trans.
so whatever I drained from tranny, 6-8 qts? didn't measure plus the 3 I said to top off
its maybe 1/8th" below full mark on stick, I added more to see if it was wrong dipstick maybe, didn't help, sucked it back out
